FW21 Week 5 – The Lineup

Before we get into all the hot and saucy material, we wanna check out what’s coming our way this week! Although we wouldn’t say it’s one of the hottest weeks, we still think there are some nice pick-ups. Well, mainly, the big a$$ mat is a must-have because it definitely won’t be the weirdest Supreme accessory.

We also have a couple of tees and hoodies that we recommend that you cop them. The first is the S logo split hoodie, and the second is the Arabic logo tee. The Arabic logo which reads “Subhan” is pretty popular, especially that we didn’t get lots of it throughout the years. Now is your chance to get that logo despite not being in the classic red box.

Last but not least, we’ve got a pretty interesting Supreme x Thrasher collab on the way. For the rookies who don’t know what Thrasher is, it’s a skateboarding magazine. So a collab of this kind is no surprise since Supreme is a skateboarding brand. The collab will include tees, sweaters, hoodies, and more!

Supreme x Tiffany in the Works?

Rumor has it that Supreme will collaborate with Tiffany on several items! I mean, knowing Supreme, we’re pretty sure that we’re gonna get some pretty interesting pieces. However, there is no confirmation on either side about a collab like that. We sure hope we get it though, it definitely won’t be the most peculiar partnership Supreme would pull off! And Supreme is obviously trying to include the ladies in their drops. Remember the Supreme x Pat McGrath lipstick?

Is Supreme Dead, Though?

Some people are definitely asking: Is Supreme dead? So many people today think that Supreme is only dropping bricks lately, and a lot actually agree with that statement. Given that last season, we’ve only had the Supreme TNF collab and some accessories worth the time & effort. However, the people who are making these statements are resellers who only rely on Supreme hype. What they need to know is that Supreme is beyond the hype (although it does capitalize on it). The brand is a niche for all skateboarding fans out there, and probably always will be.

So, in our opinion, is Supreme dead? We don’t think so. It might be losing some of the hypebeast-worthy status, but people will always want in on the action. And people will always run a Supreme bot to get that item. Why? Because believe it or not, Supreme puts out some really nice items to the world!

Shrek Just Made Supreme FW21 Week 1 More Interesting

Today, Stüssy has different branches all over the world. And if we wanna talk about our favorite Stussy item, then it’s definitely the 2005 Nike Dunk collab. The Stussy Nike SB Dunk Cherry wasn’t the first collab between the brands, but it’s definitely the cherry on top. Nike and Stussy found inspiration in the Neapolitan ice cream for this collab. Today, the pair is worth $2,500 on average on the resale market!

Palace

The British streetwear brand is famous for its triangular logo and sense of humor! Although it’s not as exclusive as Supreme, it still has fans all over the world. And let’s not forget their stores in the UK, US, and Japan. Although it kicked off in 2009, making it 12 years old only, the brand made its way to our hearts! The coolest collab we’ve seen so far by the brand is the Palace Crocs. That’s a pretty cool Foam Runner alternative, isn’t it?

Do we really need to introduce it? Off-White is the Italian luxury brand Virgil Abloh founded in 2012. What’s special about Off-White is that it cut through the luxury-streetwear barrier. It’s one of the first and best streetwear brands to do that, and so many others followed. Virgil also went on and became the head of menswear at Louis Vuitton. This makes it pretty clear that the American designer left an impact on streetwear and high-end fashion!

Now if you want us to choose the best item it’s gonna be pretty hard. Every Off-White x Nike collaboration is pretty awesome and worth a lot on the resale market. However, our favorite pair, hands down, will be the OG Off-White Jordan 1 Chicago. You can find this pair on the aftermarket for an average of $4,950!

Fragment Design – The Best Streetwear Brands Need a Godfather!

The Japanese brand is just one of the many projects by the amazing Hiroshi Fujiwara. The man has so many talents we almost lost count. From music to design, Fujiwara has a major hand in streetwear as we know it. And Fragment design is one of the most sought-after names. I mean, the Travis Scott Fragment Jordan 1 debate is still pretty fresh, right?

Okay so, we know that the latest three-way collaboration was pretty fresh, but we got love for the OG Fragments. The original Jordan 1 Fragment is worth $3,888 on average, and we still haven’t talked about the F&Fs!

Fake Yeezys Are Always Controversial

Walmart just woke up and chose violence. No, but really, the sneaker industry just found out one day to find Yeezy Foam Runner replicas in pretty colorways. So yeah, they’re definitely fake Yeezys. We know Kanye wouldn’t drop more than one colorful pair at a time man. Anyway, the real story is that a third party was selling the fake Yeezys through Walmart. That didn’t stop the lawsuits from Kanye and Yeezy to rain on them though!

The knockoffs retailed for about $24 in comparison to the real deal’s $80 and even higher resale. Maybe that’s okay with people who don’t religiously follow Yeezy releases. But real sneakerheads know fam, they always know. Walmart removed the kicks from their website following the drama. But they’re still being sold on other websites, so who needs Walmart huh?

Supreme Lawsuits – When Fake Yeezys Can’t Even Compare!

So Supreme is a streetwear giant by all means. And the bigger you get, the more lawsuit-prone you get, especially if you live thanks to controversy! This makes us ask the question: fake Yeezys who? Anyway, we’re gonna address the biggest of many legal battles that the Supreme went through. We know, there are so many, but we prefer getting to the main course, don’t you?

Louis Vuitton x Supreme – Enemies to Lovers

If you ever read YA novels at some point, you know that the Supreme LV relationship checks all the boxes! It all started back in 2000 when Supreme literally ripped off the French fashion house’s monogram print. So, LV quickly slapped Supreme with a cease and desist, and that was an interesting start to a beautiful partnership!

And 17 years later, Louis Vuitton and Supreme dropped a collaborative bomb! That was one of the signs that high-end fashion and streetwear finally started riding the same wave. LV is also taking the blend seriously with an upcoming Nike Air Force 1 collab thanks to Virgil Abloh!

Supreme x Supreme Italia

As our dear Michael Scott says: Well, well, well… How the turntables. You know, what goes around comes back around, aka karma! So Supreme the king brand of lowkey ripoffs actually got ripped off. So the trademark thing is actually pretty complicated. You can’t really trademark common words like “supreme” according to the US patent and Trademark Office. Air Jordan vs. Qiaodan Sports

Imagine somebody slapping your name in another language, on goods that your brand already produces. Seems like shady business, right? That’s exactly what it is, very sketchy and worth $46,000 in emotional damage according to courts. So some backstory for you. Jordan Brand has been in a legal battle with the Chinese company since 2012. They literally have around 80 lawsuits against them, and it’s been going back and forth since then.

In 2018, Qiaodan Sports accused Nike of infringing their trademark, which is kinda ironic! So, kudos to the legal team of Jordan Brand for putting up a good fight. All we have to do is sit tight and watch how the event will unfold later on! And in 2022, the battle will turn 10 years old, maybe they’ll reach an end by then?

Satan Shoes vs Nike – Putting Fake Yeezys in Perspective

Well, at least the fake Yeezys didn’t have human blood in them, right? Nike hit MSCHF with the lawsuit faster than they could say “Lil Nas X”! The custom Air Max 97s were pretty expensive, going for $1,000+. However, MSCHF and Nike settled the argument by voluntarily recalling the kicks from the market. So, no harm no foul! I think we can all agree that the Nike Supreme partnership gave us some pretty unforgettable sneakers. Some were not so hype or profitable, but we still remember them fondly! You know, most of these collabs are still pretty profitable to this day, years later. But here are our all-time favorite top 5 picks!

Supreme Nike SB Dunk – Forever Cemented in Our Hearts

It’s 2002, and SB Dunks weren’t as hype as they are today, thus there weren’t really many out there. But then, Supreme came along and changed the whole equation! It was arguably at this point that SB Dunks started gaining the mass following they have today. Their hype went beyond skaters and more sneakerheads were jumping aboard! The inspiration behind both the white and black colorways is obviously Air Jordan 3’s cement design. We got the sneaker designer Tinker Hatfield to that for this bit!

Today, both colorways of the Supreme Nike shoes are worth their weight in cash! In fact, the black pair resells for $5,900 on average. Meanwhile, the white Cement Dunks resell for an average of $5,700! So if you have a sneaker collection that includes these kicks, you’re definitely one of the OGs.

Supreme Nike SB Dunk High Got Us All Starstruck!

Who doesn’t know the star-studded Nike SB Dunk High? A year after their first collab, we got another batch of Supreme Nike shoes. The sneakers came in very bright and colorful iterations: red, blue, and orange! Instead of the gold stars, we were supposed to get the Nike logo. Unfortunately, legal problems ensued and we got the golden stars. No regrets though because the kicks resell for $5,000 on average!

In other news, the same design came back in 2021 on the low-tops! Although not as hype, we still appreciated the nostalgic throwback. And sneakerheads who weren’t around in 2003 got to experience the hype again! The pairs all resell for $1,000+ because why not?

So, Supreme Nike shoes took a pretty interesting, and weird, spin in 2014. The victorian style patterns never looked this good with the awesome Foamposites! Supreme Nike shoes are pretty amazing, and this pair took it a step further. Although the pair should have been pretty ugly by all standards, these were a complete success! The Foamposites resell for around $1,100 on average today.

Supreme Uptempo “Suptempos”

Fast forward to 2017, and last but not least, the Uptempos came along. Maybe that’s the biggest branding campaign by Supreme! The sneakers boasted the Supreme lettering instead of Uptempo. The Supreme Nike shoes dropped in red, black, and gold. Our favorite though is definitely the red pair. It mixes everything we love about the brand, the red, the name, and Nike shoes! A pair of red Suptempos goes for $1,000 on average!

Trophy Room Jordan 1 Makes It to Sneakers News Headlines!

If you didn’t hear about the Trophy Room x Jordan 1 scandal, you must be living in a cave. First of all, this collab was one of the most anticipated releases in 2021. A pair of Air Jordans that features MJ’s signature is a serious collectible. It also came in the Chicago colorway, so it checked all of our emotional boxes. But our dreams of adding the pair to our sneaker collection didn’t come true thanks to the backdoor scandal! That naturally left sneakerheads in a rage, and sneakerheads don’t forget easily. If you want proof, just check out this tweet!

The pair “dropped” in February 2021, if we can consider it a drop (we’re looking at you Nike). Today, the kicks resell for a whopping $3,500. And maybe, just maybe, we can blame that value on backdooring!

Yeezy 450 and 3 Years Worth of Dates

It’s 2018, and sneakers news pages are all talking about one rumor. The alien-like pair of sneakers that Kanye just flexed! A Twitter photo dump gave us the first looks, along with so many other kicks. Later on, we saw sketches and understood that the kicks are going through more work. Kanye though? He mentioned Yeezy 2019, but nothing happened. And then, 3 years after the 2018 teaser, we finally got a release date. However, the release kinda lost its appeal. I mean, playing hard to get for 3 years is a bit too much, isn’t it?

Well, long story short, Yeezy 450 (or 451 back then) dropped in March 2021! Although it retailed for $200, the pair was still worth the cop. It currently resells for $500. We wouldn’t call this release disappointing, but kinda anti-climactic.

Supreme SB Dunks Were Major Sneakers News!

Okay so, FW20 of Supreme ended, and with it came leaks of upcoming Supreme Dunks. And they look exactly like those of 2003. That was honestly enough to drive all the fans crazy! However, Supreme kinda seems to have lost a bit of its hype. We haven’t seen earth-shattering releases like the brand got us used to. However, the Dunks didn’t disappoint, although they could have come in cooler colorways.

The kicks were a success, we won’t deny that. And if miraculously you copped them, you can flip them for at least $1,000! However, the other Nike x Supreme collabs of the last couple of seasons aren’t really THAT exciting. We hope for more sexy releases in the future.

CLOT x Air Max 1: A Hard No?

Maybe back in 2006 sneakerheads were less picky? Or is it that sneaker brands are messing up their release? Search me if I know. But one thing I do know is that the 2021 re-release didn’t come close to the hype the 2006 pair had. Everyone welcomed the sneakers news, but the enthusiasm didn’t translate into a high resale value!

The pair featured several low-key differences from the original 2006 collab, and maybe that’s a factor? The 2021 pair resells for around $180, which is barely more than the $150 retail tag. Meanwhile, if you have the 2006 OG Clot x Nike Air Max 1, you can flip it for $850!

Air Jordan 5 Raging Bulls

Now, this is a pair that holds some sick history, and you can read about it here. In short, the OG pair was part of a cool pack, but Jordan Brand chose to bring it back solo! Usually, the pair would be worth at least a number close to the OG. However, an average of $250 doesn’t come close to $700, does it? So this one isn’t really disappointing, it’s just that resale doesn’t give it justice! It’s actually one of 2021’s prettiest releases in our opinion.

When Sneakers News Blow a Pair Up: Travis Scott AJ6!

Well, last but not least! This is the perfect example of a pair’s hype going out of proportion. So sneakerheads met most of Travis Scott’s collabs with the same hype (and high resale). But seriously, the Travis Scott AJ6 British Khaki was a disappointment in terms of resale. I mean, $450 doesn’t really scream hype for sneakerheads and resellers.

Some Happy News Please…

It was a pretty uneventful year, but let’s forget about that! We already have pictures of a new three-way collaboration between Travis Scott, Fragment, and Jordan Brand! And this time, we’re sure this release won’t disappoint. That’s if they don’t sleep on it for too long (I see you Kanye!). Maybe in 2021, the brands are taking it slowly because they didn’t wanna relive the 2020 losses. After all, COVID-19 wasn’t going anywhere. But now that people are getting the vaccines, and the world slowly regaining its pace, will hot kicks come back? We personally can’t wait for spicy releases!
