The sneaker industry, aka the athletic footwear market, will be worth USD 196.1 billion by 2030 according to studies. Now, many are into it for many different reasons. Some are die-hard sneakerheads who just love sneakers and the stories behind them. But others are into it for the profit. You see, with a market this rich, you can totally expect the sneaker reselling business to be booming too. And it is, despite the effects of inflation and production issues. One thing’s for sure though, not everyone is cut out to be a sneaker reseller. So today, we’re gonna see who should start a reselling business, shall we?

who should start a sneaker reselling business guide NSThe Sneaker Reselling Business Isn’t for Everyone

We’re not trying to drive you away, but it’s a fact. To be a sneaker reseller, you need to have some assets that we’re about to check out. So if you’re one of the people we’re gonna mention, then you should totally consider this path!

You’re a Sneaker Collector and Sneakerhead

If you’re a sneaker lover or even have a sneaker obsession, you can start a sneaker reselling business. After all, who wouldn’t wanna work in an industry they love? You would already have a precise idea about the sneaker brands and kicks you will resell. You’ll also be up to date regarding upcoming releases because you already have an interest in kicks. And let’s be real now, sneakerheads have an excellent sense of fashion. So they’ll automatically know what kicks will be a flex and which will be a flop.

You’re Looking to Make Some Side Money

Sneaker reselling is a business providing cash flow in the long run. To cut to the chase, there are a couple of sneakerheads who actually make six figures selling shoes these days. And some of them even become famous because of that. So making sneaker resale your side hustle in these hard times is a pretty good idea! In the meantime, you can check out our style guides for tips and tricks.

You Want a Gig with Low Time Commitment

Being a reseller doesn’t mean you’ll spend lots of time in front of your screen. Once you know where to sell your kicks, you just list your kicks and leave! It’s very easy to keep tabs on everything even from your phone. And the more experience you have, the easier it gets. You can also save some time by joining exclusive sneakerhead groups and cookgroups on Discord and other platforms. So, if you’re still a student with classes to attend or an adult with a full-time job, you can manage to squeeze sneaker reselling in!

You Got an Entrepreneur Mindset

If you have an entrepreneurial mind and are a business enthusiast, then selling sneakers online is a good idea. There are many sneakerheads who have been in the business for years and are capable of advising you when needed. Moreover, if you get into the sneaker reselling business, you’ll start gaining financial experience!

You Already Own a Different Reselling Business

If so, then you already know how to market and how to make people trust you. Moreover, you already have your own name and client base that way. And word of mouth was and will probably always be the best advertisement! Now, if you’re wondering what you can resell other than sneakers, check this out.

You’re Patient

You need to have the ability to sleep on a pair. Some resellers bought Dunks when they weren’t in the hype zone, they kept them and slept on them. And suddenly, BAM! Dunks are all the hype and you can sell some of the older stuff for thousands of dollars. That also goes without saying that Yeezys could be next on the same path. So people were right when they said that patience is a virtue. But you gotta have the common sense that goes with patience. Otherwise, the kicks will end up being bricks and making little to no profit.

Sneaker Reselling Business Golden Rules

Buy Low & Sell High

That’s the general rule, but it wouldn’t work unless you buy your kicks for retail. Only then, you can resell for a higher bidding resale price and get the best profit possible. And if you’re a sneakerhead, then you already know that this can’t happen without a powerful sneaker bot.

According to Forbes, the use of sneaker bots improved the sneaker resale industry. More people are using bots every day to buy sneakers and sell them online. People wait in line for hours and spend thousands of dollars just to get their hands on exclusive kicks. Well, sometimes it even led to riots!

buy low sell high sneaker reselling business NSB

It’s getting harder and harder to cop sneakers manually online. That’s because companies like Nike and Adidas are applying a lottery system for exclusive sneakers. So, you need to be lucky to cop successfully! Or you need an all-in-one sneaker bot like NSB to give your odds a boost. Here’s a starter guide that will get you on the right track for your future sneaker reselling business.

Start Slowly and Carefully… No Rush!

Since you’re new to the business, start with lower financial risk and cop a couple of pairs. You can make a moderate profit out of them just so you get the hang of it. The upside is that you’ll get to know potential buyers, and they get to know you better! Once you know what you’re doing and you have a good rep, then you can scale up your business. You’ll also reach a level where it gets easier, more consistent, and more profitable!

Start Your Sneaker Resale Gig Today!

Although we gave you some pointers, it’s not as easy as it sounds. But if you’re one of the people we previously mentioned, then you have what it takes to make it! With the right amount of commitment, sneaker reselling will be a rewarding business for you peeps. Finally, we recommend you get to know more about the business and follow sneaker blogs. You can also do that on Twitter and Instagram so you’d have an idea about your potential market. And make sure you follow our blog for the latest sneaker news!

Being a sneakerhead isn’t just about flexing the latest pair of hype kicks. It’s about the culture, the history, and definitely classic kicks. However, when you’re new to the industry, it’s kinda difficult to get kicks that dropped years ago. Or discontinued lines for that matter (Yeezys, we’re looking at you). That’s one of the reasons the aftermarket exists. And today, we’re gonna discuss sneaker consignment stores and why you should know about them! Whether you wanna flip or buy sneakers, you’ll wanna read on.

PS: If you wanna learn how to become a reseller, make sure you have what it takes. Once you do, check out how to become one here!

PS #2: If you’re looking for sites other than StockX to buy and sell kicks, check this out.

Sneaker Consignment Stores list NSBWhat Are Sneaker Consignment Stores?

Okay so, imagine that you lucked out on getting that really hype sneaker. (Bit of a stretch if you don’t have a sneaker bot, but whatever.) But the pair wasn’t your size, and you don’t wanna keep it, so why not benefit from it? You could always list that pair on resale websites. Or, you can walk into sneaker consignment stores and put it there.

In other words, a consignment store takes your sneakers (in deadstock state usually) and sells them for you. When the sale happens, they call you and give you your share. These services don’t happen for free though. Each consignment store charges a different fee for the transaction, but we’ll share those a bit further down!

Sneaker Consignment Store Facts

  • Stores won’t immediately sell kicks after release. They’ll wait until resale values settle before they actually start the transactions.
  • Hype is an important factor when it comes to consignment. However, you’ll still find your average pair of AF1s or Dunks there.
  • Many store stock up on sneakers and keep them on ice. That way, they cash in on the kicks when their time comes… big time!

Best Sneaker Consignment Stores in the Game Today

There are so many sneaker consignment stores around today. Some are as authentic as they come, others are shady (to say the least). We’ll just save you the pain and list some of the best stores we trust and love. However, that doesn’t mean that others aren’t just as good! Now let’s check out our favorite sneaker consignment stores, shall we?

Stadium Goods

First on our list is the NYC Stadium Goods. The store launched back in 2015, and since 2020, it operates under the Farfetch company. And yeah, that was pretty big news when it happened. Anyway, the process is pretty simple. You send your kicks to the store where they legit check them and put them on sale if they’re all good. The reseller actually sets the price, but Stadium Goods take a good 20% of that value in commission. That’s why the prices you see there are a bit higher than other resale platforms. However, SG is pretty trustworthy. If Complex’s Sneaker Shopping trusts it, so do we!

Sneaker consignment stores NSB stadium goodsFlight Club

Okay so, first off, we gotta mention that Flight Club and GOAT merged in 2018. However, they still operate as independent companies (and websites). Now, Flight Club is a consignment store that you can find in NY, Miami, LA, and online. Once you subscribe as a reseller, you gotta prove your authenticity. After that, it’s pretty simple because Flight Club will handle the sales. Their fees are also pretty straightforward: 9.5% + $5 seller fees, and a 2.9% cash out fee.

Sneaker consignment stores NSB flight clubSole Supremacy

The world is fast, but so are some sneaker stores! Sole Supremacy is one of the coolest sneaker consignment stores we have on our list. They don’t make you wait for an actual sale to pay you. Instead, they buy the kicks from you on the spot. You also trade in your shoes, and if the store isn’t near you, you can mail your kicks in and get store credit! Pretty cool huh? You can check out their policy in detail here.

Sneaker consignment stores NSB sole supremacyRound Two

You definitely heard that name at some point if you like cool kicks. The owner of Round Two is none other than Sean Wotherspoon! That store is a place for people who “tear the packaging” of their items. Items are meant to be touched and cherished according to them. In other words, you can sell a pre-owned/used item there, and they’ll pay you on the spot!

Sneaker consignment stores NSB round twoUrban Necessities

When it comes to consignment at Urban Necessities, it’s a whole process. In other words, you need to register and wait until they restart sneaker processing. But if it all goes well and you try to sell, UN will charge 20% of the sale price or $45, whichever is greater. Keep in mind that there are also cleaning and storage fees. You can check those out right here!

…You’re gonna need some kicks to flip, right? In order to do that, you gotta know what the best sneaker bots in the game are. You can’t just rely on your luck and speed anymore, not when most people are running bots. Once you get a sneaker bot, check out this guide, it’ll give you all the pointers you need to get started! The sneaker industry is ever-growing, and it’s definitely not gonna slow down any time soon. From its connection to other industries to birthing a whole new one, it’s definitely here to stay. But in today’s world, it’s a bit harder to crack into the world of kicks if you don’t know better. But don’t worry, that’s what we’re here for! Today, we’re gonna do a little bit of brain work and discuss what makes hyped sneakers actually hype.

This knowledge will come in handy if you think you have what it takes and decide to become a reseller. And since you’re reading this, then you’re already halfway through that decision! So, are you ready to learn the difference between a hype pair and your average beaters? If you’re already familiar with the basics, why not jog your memory with a reread? And if you wanna level up your game, then you might wanna take a crack at sneaker botting basics!

Hyped Sneakers Guide NSBHyped Sneakers Recipe!

Choose Your Brand Carefully

We’re gonna be honest here, not all sneaker brands are worth investing in. That’s why you should always stay in the loop and know which brands are the most popular. Naturally, one of the leading brands in that department is Nike along with Jordan Brand. And before the Adidas Yeezy breakup, Yeezys were also a powerful contender. Finally, New Balance has been doing some solid work for the last couple of years. Sadly, Adidas seems to be killing its collabs one by one, but we sure hope for the best.

Sneaker brands hype NSB

Look at the Background of the Shoes

A very important part of the sneaker game is sentimental value. Sometimes a pair builds hype just because of the story it holds. One of the masters at this game is Jordan Brand. Air Jordan plays on the backstory of the kicks with retros and new colorways, and almost always sells out. Most Jordans have a story to tell, and sneakerheads are into that storytelling. You see, every OG Jordan that dropped during MJ’s playing days holds a legendary moment with it. This contributed to His Airness becoming the king of endorsements.

Availability

Exclusive runs always win the hype game. The availability of brands like Vans and Converse makes the kicks lose value on the resale market. So naturally, they make really fantastic beaters. However, companies like Nike and Adidas capitalize on exclusivity as well as general releases. An excellent example of that would be Yeezys during their prime. Getting your hands on a pair was a big deal, and the kicks were worth a lot in resale. However, the exclusivity card isn’t a long-term strategy. Sadly, the partnership ended in 2022 and didn’t survive long enough for us to see how things will turn out.

Supply Demand Hype NSB

Collaboration is Key to Hyped Sneakers

We’ll repeat, not all collabs are worth the flip, but collabs are usually worth the money you’ll invest in them. When a popular brand collaborates with an equally cool brand, the results are very hyped sneakers! And that’s how an otherwise available brand can give us a hot pair of kicks. Obvious examples of this are Fear of God x Vans Era 95 DX Marshmallow. It retailed for $90 and currently resells for $1,200 on average! Another one is Off-White x Chuck 70 Hi “The Ten” which retailed for $130 and resells for around $1,800. Of course, this was due to the relationship between exclusivity and value. The kicks we mentioned were pretty rare!

Value vs Exclusivity NSBOn another note, Adidas failed miserably to create hype with their IVY PARK and Pharrell partnerships. Yeezy, as we already mentioned, lost some of its appeal but was still worth copping. However, sneaker collabs like Travis Scott with Jordan and Nike are literally what’s keeping the hype world together. So, again, there’s more at play here than what meets the eye.

A Good Endorsement Does Wonders!

Choosing the right athlete is crucial to the marketing game. The Jordan endorsement is living proof of that. Remember the time when Michael Jordan didn’t want to sign with Nike? Converse, as the best basketball shoe company back then, didn’t see much in a rookie. MJ wanted to sign with Adidas but they couldn’t make basketball shoes so they passed up on the offer. However, Nike was willing to sign a deal, and thanks to Mama Jordan, they did!

Hyped Sneakers - endorsements

After signing the deal and agreeing to give Jordan his own shoe, Nike expected $3 million worth of sales. However, they ended up selling $126 million! So how does that relate to our talk? Simply put, Michael Jordan, even as a rookie, was a sensation and the public loved him. This love translated into sales when the first Air Jordan 1 dropped in 1985! After all, everyone wanted to be like Mike. And that marked the birth of hyped sneakers.

Again, Nike does wonders when it comes to endorsements and collaborations. So if you take a look at this list of Nike athletes, you’d know that Nike has no shortage of awesome kicks. Though they’re not all hype-worthy, they’re a constant income for the brand because they’re popular!

Advertising Could Create Hyped Sneakers

Who doesn’t remember the Jordan series of commercials starring MJ and Spike Lee? Or Adidas’s “Impossible is Nothing” commercial that features Muhammad Ali and other famous athletes? Commercials and marketing campaigns are very important elements of the hype culture. A very well-executed marketing strategy would make all the difference in the world. “Tickle Me Elmo” is the perfect proof of that! Anyway, if you wanna check out some cool sneaker commercials, check this out.

Best Nike Commercials NSBLast Thing You Should Know About Hyped Sneakers!

Hyped sneakers are not just the byproduct of the design process. Although the design does play a part, it’s not always what makes or breaks a release. In fact, ugly kicks can still be worth a whole lot of money if a brand plays the game right. And sometimes, sneaker hype depends on many factors that even these brands can’t control. Otherwise, we wouldn’t be having this whole discussion, would we?

But one thing is for sure, getting hype kicks is hard. That’s why you should have a good sneaker bot to help you out in the vicious online copping world! After all, you won’t be the only sneakerhead looking for a way to cop the hottest kicks on the market. Luckily, NSB3 is coming soon, and with it a lot of upgrades that will give you the boost you need on drop day. From a brand-new Nike SNKRS module to the AI Captcha solver, here’s what you should expect from the upgrade! Godspeed

A lot can happen in the span of one year. Industries could rise and fall, inflation could reach an all-time high, and recession could affect a lot of people. Sadly, many people came back from the Covid-19 quarantine and lost their jobs a couple of months later. Naturally, everyone is either looking for a new or an extra source of income. So, new opportunities could present themselves for you and others to start making money. That’s why today we’re gonna discuss some options, including why you should invest in sneakers!

Why invest in sneakers NSBYou see, the sneaker industry and sneaker reselling isn’t for everyone. The sneaker market’s value is expected to hit a whopping $120 billion by 2026. Meanwhile, the predictions for the sneaker resale market stand at $30 billion by 2030. That’s a huge number, and it kinda motivates you to try to know more about it all. But before you get into that, make sure you know whether you’re a good fit for it or not! And if you wanna have more options, here are some other things that you can resell that are not sneakers. This can come in handy especially if you’re on a very low (or non-existent) budget.

What Will You Need to Invest in Sneakers?

Before we get all technical and niche on you, make sure you know your sneaker terminology. If you already are, then just ignore that (or refresh your memory). Anyway, to invest in sneakers, you’ll obviously need sneakers. But coming by these sneakers, especially popular or hype ones is kinda hard. That’s why you’re gonna need a good sneaker bot that supports the sites you wanna cop from. If you’re unfamiliar with sneaker botting, this guide can give you an overview of what you need!

NSB3 Logo new - best sneaker botsLucky for you, you don’t have to look too far for a sneaker bot, because NSB is right here for you! Not only is it one of the best bots around, but it also makes sure that you always have the latest updates. That’s why NSB3 is coming soon with great updates that will level up your botting game. You can read all about it here, but you might want a sneak peek. So, some of the upgrades will be a Nike SNKRS module, AI Captcha solver, and more updates to our awesome Shopify module. Just make sure you own a copy of NSB, and if you don’t, you can get it here!

The Big Decision

If you actually decide to invest in sneakers, we gotta point out something to you. Some kicks are easier to cop, but they don’t make as much profit as the more difficult pairs. In other words, it’s a quantity vs quality(ish) thing. Should I buy 10 pairs of a sneaker that makes me $100? Or 1 pair of a sneaker that makes $1000? You know, that kinda mental monologue that keeps sneaker resellers awake at night.

Collecting sneakers is profitableWell, with all the exclusivity and hype we’re seeing, the hypothetical 1K+ pair will have a lot of competition. Going for it isn’t wrong, especially if you’re in it for quick money and don’t mind taking the risk. Who knows? You might end up cooking more than 1 pair if you’re mega lucky (or have a great sneaker bot). But you can’t always rely on this, because it could be a while before you get another pair like that! So we’d say a healthy mix of both would do wonders.

Are NFTs a Worthy Competitor?

You see, NFTs shot to popularity in a really short span of time. With the innovative idea and people’s FOMO on the line, investments came in left and right. And many (even us) started thinking (and some even believing) that NFTs were gonna be the next big thing! Don’t get us wrong, we still think that the NFT market is worth looking into. However, why would you put all of your eggs in one basket when you can split them?

types of nftsNow, after the huge market crash in 2022, things are looking up for the NFT market. Apparently, January’s trading volume increased. But, even so, we’d still recommend investing in sneakers, especially since it’s a well-established industry. And let’s face it, it’s not showing any signs of going anywhere. However, just like any other industry, it could be going through a market correction phase. And that’s always a good thing in the long run!

Ready to Invest in Sneakers?

Because we can’t leave you hanging like that, we’re gonna give you a heads-up on what to look out for. Some sneakers may not be as profitable as you’d imagine, but copping them in bulk will definitely bring in mo’ money mo’ money! And well, with time and market knowledge, you’ll know what to go for. However, all eyes are on Nike kicks and Air Jordans since Yeezys are out. But you should probably study your options because not all kicks can get you the profit you want! And if you wanna stay in the loop, make sure you read our blog for the latest sneaker updates. Godspeed

And today, there seems to be something new cooking, at least that’s what Marcus Jordan’s post implies. Let’s just hope they don’t backdoor any upcoming collabs as well.

Any Travis Scott Sneakers Are Good Sneakers to Resell

Whether you’re a rookie or veteran sneakerhead, you have to know how important Travis’ kicks are. Apparently, he’s not just the highest in the room, he’s also the highest on the aftermarket! Cactus Jack now has a pretty rich history of sneaker collaborations that you can check out here. The latest one was definitely a banger that also caused an uproar. You can read all about what went down after release day here! But just for the rec, the high and low top Travis Scott Fragment Jordan 1 resell for a lot. To be specific, they average $3,126 for the highs and $1,411 for the lows.

Virgil’s Off-Whites Are Always a Yes!

The 50 shades of hype introduced Nike’s ‘exclusive access’. We personally think that’s another level of sneaker dictatorship and disappointments. But whatever man, to each their own, right? So anyway, if you were lucky enough to gain exclusive access, then you’re sitting on a fortune! The luckiest would be Lot 1 & 50 winners because they can flip them for $1,150 and $1,253 respectively. Let’s just hope the newer Off-White x Nike collabs won’t be this exclusive *smiles in pain*.

Sacai – A Hit or Miss…

Okay so let’s clarify what we mean. In terms of style and innovation, Sacai’s Nike collabs are always a hit. But when it comes to resale value, they sometimes miss the mark. So how does one know what sneakers to invest in? Well, you gotta keep an eye on the resale. Exclusivity is always key, you know. On the other hand, some collabs and designs scream hype, so when you know, you know. For example, the upcoming Nike Sacai Fragment collab is a yes! You can find all the release deets here.

So, Adidas Actually Has Sneakers to Resell in Store?

Don’t get us wrong, we’re saying this with nothing but love for the trefoil. From the history of the logo to the actual sneakers they have, it’s all love. However, they’ve been in free fall in terms of hype kicks. But a certain Bad Bunny came in and gave Adidas the tiniest little push. Check out the full story behind the Bad Bunny Forums here, and why you’re lucky is you copped!

Yeezys and Air Jordan 1 – Classics We Can’t Sleep on

We’d be crazy if we didn’t mention these babies. Owning a Yeezy or an Air Jordan 1 is like owning a timeless item, only if you choose right. So before you jump into that purchase, make sure you know if the kicks are worth it on the aftermarket! If you’re looking for a nice AJ1 to cop soon, we got just the thing for you. Jordan 1 Prototype is definitely worth your while both in looks and money!

Jordan 1 Prototype High

But what about Yeezys? It’s true that Kanye is kinda MIA lately, but the holiday season is imminent yo! It’s not really a holiday if we don’t have at least one crazy drop, is it? And rumor has it, that November 2021 will bring the OG Blue Tints with it! But if you can’t wait that long, Yeezy 350 Light drops tomorrow. You might as well take a shot at this one!

New Balance – Got Any Sneakers to Resell?

Surprisingly, they do fam. We already discussed how the New Balance collabs are leaving a mark in the industry lately! And their latest collaboration with Joe Freshgoods is definitely going places. So if you’re looking for something nice that drops soon, you gotta go for it. The kicks are definitely worth our while, in style and resale value! You can read all about that here, and trust me, you’ll want to do that.

Joe Freshgoods New Balance 990v3

But First… How to Get The Kicks!

Before you get all excited about the cash you can make, you’ll need to own the kicks… for retail. And kicks like that, you can’t just strut in and add to cart. The competition is fierce, and you have to be up to it. But there is no way in heck that you’ll be able to do that without the right sneaker bot. But you can relax because you can check out the best sneaker bots in 2021 here.

And just make sure you keep an eye on everything else. From sneaker proxies to servers, to cook groups, you’ll need to have the perfect environment for your bot. After all, you can’t cook without the right ingredients, can you? Godspeed 🔥

In today’s world, so many people are obsessed with brands and brand names. Not everyone can afford brand apparel though, and that’s when fakes come into play. Want a Gucci bag but can’t really spare $2,000? You could get a counterfeit for about $50. So where are we going with this example? We just wanna get to the fact that the fake sneakers market exists, and they’re a big thing. Let’s get to know the secondhand market and how it affects everything else!

Fake Sneakers 2021

How Big is the Fake Sneakers Market?

Now that’s an interesting bit. The market of fake sneakers is worth $450 billion. That’s a bit more than the sneaker market itself! But why did it grow that big? The answer isn’t as simple as you’d imagine. Some people get tricked into buying fake kicks, that’s true, but definitely not the only reason. Another big participating factor is the resale market. Oh, and the sneaker industry itself! First of all, the sneaker industry has been playing the exclusivity card for a long long time. Companies like Nike and Adidas discovered this power source and totally cashed in on it. The rest of the work was done by the buyers! Let’s say, a person managed to get Yeezy 350 V2 Beluga when it dropped in 2016. They could flip it for $1000+ today!

Fake Yeezy Beluga

Now, say an ordinary person, not necessarily a sneakerhead, wants a Beluga because it looks good. They probably won’t be down to drop 1K for a pair of kicks on the secondary market. And here come fake sneakers into the game. Although high-end replicas are not “cheap” by every meaning of the word, they’re definitely cheaper. So dropping $200 on a high-end pair of Yeezys is definitely better than paying 5x the price. The same goes for Nike and Jordan sneakers!

Who Makes These Replicas?

China has been long famous for making extremely good replicas of high-end goods. Whether you want bags, apparel, or sneakers, you can find it all! I mean, who doesn’t like a pair of Abidas or Mike? Jokes aside though, you can find some really hard-to-catch fake sneakers if you know where to look!

Fake Sneakers Warrn Lotas

On the other hand, we’ve got so many “companies” that are dropping “authentic original” sneakers. And by that, we mean an exact replica of Jordan 1 but without the swoosh. So really, thank you Peter Moore for being one of the most copied sneaker designers today. We also clearly remember the latest Nike/Warren Lotas legal battle over Dunks! So yeah, fake sneakers could come under many names, even if they’re not marketed as authentic. Some designs could be misleading themselves, so really, it’s a really fickle business!

How to Avoid Getting “Sneakerfished”

Took an L on a certain release and decided to go for it on the aftermarket? We’ve got a couple of tips for you! These are questions that you need to ask yourself before making any purchase. And they actually apply to different industries, not just fake sneakers.

Is the Price Normal?

You found a Yeezy V2 Static Black for $150? You can bet your a$$ that it’s a fake. Finding Yeezys for under retail isn’t impossible, but you gotta know which to look for. This is why we recommend doing your research before you buy from the resale market.

How to catch Fake Sneakers 2021

Know Your Resellers

Before you take the risky step of buying sneakers from the secondary market, you should know the seller. Some websites have authority today and you can rest easy when you buy or resell kicks there. And if you’re buying off of other platforms, make sure you’re going for trustworthy sources. Usually, legit checks and reviews can pinpoint you in the right direction.

Legit Check Kicks Yourself

If you’re checking out some kicks off the resale market, make sure you ask for more pictures. That way, you can check if these are fake sneakers or not. If you’re not an expert, you can actually find these services online too! The internet is truly a wonderful place.

Will the Fake Sneakers Market Survive?

As long as sneakers are in demand and unattainable to all, fake sneakers are here to stay. If you don’t mind wearing replicas and don’t care about your sneakerhead rep, then by all means do it. However, if you don’t wanna fall prey to sneaker forgers, make sure you stay alert. Another option would be buying kicks for their respective websites, for retail. But you won’t be able to get hype kicks without a sneakerbot. And here’s where NSB will come in handy. It’s one of the oldest sneaker bots in the game, and still is one of the best!

Worst of the Worst: What Went [Literally] Down in 2020! https://www.nikeshoebot.com/what-went-down-2020/ Thu, 17 Dec 2020 16:53:57 +0000 https://www.nikeshoebot.com/?p=255602 2020 was a long and tiresome year, and that’s an understatement. 2020 was a long and tiresome year, and that’s an understatement. With everything that was going on throughout the past 12 months, we hardly could keep tabs! And even though many of us would survive the year a quick recap wouldn’t hurt. However, the impact of Covid-19 is the exception because so many of us lost loved ones, especially in the US. It’s hard to forget something like that. On a lighter note though, let’s check out everything that went wrong in the sneaker industry this year. God knows there were a lot of things that could have gone worse. So here it is: The worst of the worst in 2020’s sneaker industry!

What Went Down in 2020

Obviously, Covid-19

We’d be trippin’ if the pandemic wasn’t on top of our WWW list. Coronavirus crossed the world at an unbelievable speed, and the whole world went into lockdown. But that didn’t really stop the spread. People fell ill, and many died. The lockdown affected so many businesses and many fell out of work. This caused money trouble for small and big companies alike, and some managed better than others. On the other hand, big sneaker companies took some great initiatives to fight Covid-19. The resale market, though? It stood strong through it all, and the $2B industry is still as good as ever. However, the value of many sneakers dropped on the aftermarket according to owners and specialists. So the question must be asked: Would resale values of sneakers be higher if it wasn’t for the pandemic?

What Went Down Sneaker Industry 2020

People Cashed Out on Kobe’s Death

January 2020 wasn’t fun for basketball fans and players. One of the legends of the game passed away in a tragic helicopter accident. And while some people were mourning Kobe Bryant’s death, others were cashing out on the tragedy. The resale value of Kobe kicks skyrocketed and they were selling out at retailers. That’s why Nike pulled the kicks out from stores, and other stores stopped selling them for a while until the tide settled.

Black Lives Matter & The Looting

Don’t get us wrong. People went to the streets for all the right reasons. However, you always get the people who went there for all the wrong ones. While the protestors were trying to demand equality and a better future for the generations to come, others were not. They were down there to cause riots and loot stores! So if you somehow stumbled on one shoe with the other one lost and a “seller looking for it”, well… You know what that means. Some of the looted sneaker stores were Kith, Round Two, Concepts, Flight Club, and more! Bigger stores like Foot Locker and Nike Store didn’t survive the lootings either. However, the stores’ responses to the incidents were all pretty decent because what’s done is done.

looted sneakers check

…And Then Virgil Abloh Donates $50!

You probably heard about the backlash the designer received from the crowds. Virgil Abloh is a pretty influential figure in streetwear and high-end fashion. Especially since he was the first black designer to hold a high position at a French brand like Louis Vuitton. However, his statements during the BLM protests were controversial. Later on, he felt inspired and donated $50 to support Fempower that helps with the legal fees of arrested protesters. The public didn’t take that very well, especially that the Off-White apparel isn’t by any means cheap. Some people even expressed their outrage through Wikipedia, but that has long been changed.

Hypebeasts Traded FOGs for Quantums

Alright so, we could’ve put that on the top of our list if there weren’t more pressing matters. Remember the mysterious trucks rolling out on the streets of Chicago that turned out to be Kanye’s work? Yeah, Santa Yeezus gave people free Quantums, and that’s when the controversy started. Some people traded their $2,000+ Fear of God kicks in exchange for the kicks. Although Adidas denied any requirements to get the Quantums, videos said otherwise!

StockX Receives Backlash for Extra Fees

The last thing resellers needed during a pandemic and unemployment crisis is an extra fee. That didn’t stop StockX though, did it? The resale platform added a 3% processing fee for the buyers in addition to the pre-existing seller fees. Resellers and sneakerheads didn’t welcome the decision at all because that meant more paying. And that was during a very hard time of the year (not that now is much better).

StockX fees increase

Raffles Got Us Like… Ugh

So raffles are technically like playing the lottery. A sneaker raffle means you submit your name and hope you win that ticket to buy the kicks for retail. This year, due to COVID19, most in-store releases got canceled. And sneaker stock went into raffles rather than online drops to NOT give sneaker bots more stock to cook.  But really, there are raffle bots out there.

Nike SNKRS raffles

Most stores held raffles for the most exclusive releases, and not everyone likes it. For one, your odds are particularly low since it’s all about your LUCK. Unlike copping with sneaker bots where having reliable tools can really up your chances.

Warren Lotas Gets Sued by Nike

Well, it all started in September, when Warren Lotas announced the pre-orders for a Nike SB Dunk Pigeon lookalike. Now, not to be biased, but the kicks are very similar to the Nike Dunks. So naturally, Nike did what Nike does and sued Warren lotas for copyright infringement. That’s not the whole surprising thing though. It was Jeff Staple low-key defending the kicks that did it for us. The lawsuit battle is still ongoing and we have yet to see who’ll win. What we do know is that the Pigeon look-alike would have made Lotas millions of dollars in revenue. In fact, each pair of his “Dunk-alike” retailed for $300, and that’s a heck of a lot. But to be fair, no one would buy them not knowing that they’re not REAL DUNKS. The joke’s on them if that’s the case.

Warren Lotas Nike Controversy 2020

DataDome Footsites Security

That’s for the botters of the sneaker industry! Security updates on sneaker sites are the norm in the game. What fun would we have without the occasional updates that change the way we cop? However, this year featured one of the biggest changes we’ve seen in a while. Using DataDome as the new antibot on Footsites was a big deal for most sneaker bots and sneakerheads in 2020. What it basically did was force Captcha for users with bad quality or suspicious IP addresses or proxies. But as with most security updates, reliable sneaker bots, like NSB, worked around this and are back to copping on Footsites again.

Datadome Footsites

We Lost Track of Kanye’s Neutral Streak

Seriously, my guy has a thing for neutrals. In 2020 ONLY, we got several colorways that got us convinced that Kanye is merely switching uppers and midsoles. And don’t get us started on white kicks. So this year we got… let’s see… Yeezy 350 Natural, Yeshaya, Earth, Sand, Flax, and Tail Light. Oh, and Yeezy Sand Taupe will join soon! That’s only in 2020, we didn’t even mention previous drops. The question is, would you recognize which is which at first glance?

Neutral Yeezys 2020

Sneaker Renting Is A Thing…

Yes, you read that right, sneaker renting is apparently not a new concept. But when a famous figure in the sneaker industry launches such a project, it will definitely generate some additional clout. Once again, Jeff Staple makes it to our list with his latest video promoting Kyx.world. The new sneaker renting platform provides different plans you can choose from so you could flex any pair. The way we see it, the project is a two-edged sword. On one hand, it’s a pretty good idea since the number of “streetwear influencers” is ever-growing. And many of them don’t really own the kicks. On the other hand, the idea could bring a lot of headaches to the owners. But oh well, to each their own, and we hope it works out for them!

The Silver Lining

It was a pretty rocky year generally, but we can’t ignore all the sick drops we got in 2020. Despite all the bad things that happened, the sneaker bot industry is going as good as ever. So if you haven’t hopped on the sneaker train yet, now is a good time to get a headstart on 2021! And let’s just HOPE 2021 brings some better news. Who knows? We might just do a list of the Best of the Best!

Nike Adapt BB 2.0 Mag

Self-lacing shoes, who doesn’t love those? Nike has always been one of the pioneers in sneaker technology. But they outdid themselves back in 1989 with the Nike Mags. However, these are extremely limited, and thus, pretty hard to get your hands on. So, to make it up to us, Nike is dropping the self-lacing Adapt BB 2.0 in our favorite Mag colorway. And let’s just say, it’s good looking dammit! The kicks will drop on October 21, 2020, for $400. It might be higher than what your bank account is used to, but a resale of around $650 is worth paying retail!

Jordan 35 Warrior

Do you know what the Supreme watch needs? A pair of kicks to go with it! The second colorway of the new Jordan 35 takes us back to the OG days. Bred is always in, end of discussion! Even Kanye knows it because the Bred Yeezys are one of our favorites. The new Eclipse 2.0 plate is definitely taking sneaker tech to the next level. So make sure you don’t miss out on it on October 21, 2020. The kicks will retail for $180, and resell for an average of $800!

Comme Des Garçons x Nike Air Force 1 Mid

So, the deconstructed kicks are not only Virgil Abloh’s trademark apparently. CDG and Nike are dropping two pairs of Air Force 1 Mids, black and white! Both pairs will feature a deconstructed swoosh and eyelets. They’re perfectly plain, and that’s what we love about them! Stay tuned for the release on October 23, 2020! So far, the kicks will retail for $270 with no resale value available. Although it’s a bit more expensive than your usual AF1, the collab will definitely be worth it.

CDG AF1- weekly releases supreme watch

Air Jordan 12 Dark Concord

Which just goes by Jordan 12 Concord. The pair brings back so many memories… of another silhouette! If you know anything about Air Jordan, you’ll know that Jordan 11 is famous for the Concord colorway. The new Jordan 12 Concord nods to this pair and the Space Jams with all the black and purple. I mean, what’s better than a modern throwback? The kicks will drop on October 23, 2020, for $190. And if you’re looking for a quick flip with the flex, the currently resell for about $300!

Jordan 12 concord - weekly releases supreme watch

Yeezy Natural

The last pair on our least, but definitely not the least. Yeezy Natural is one more pair to our plain Yeezy rotation! The kicks feature an off white Primeknit upper, with a yellowish sole and the usual Boost midsole. So if you’ve worn your older whites out, it’s time to freshen up with this pair. Make sure you cop them when they drop on October 24, 2020, for $220. Flipping the kicks will also be worth it since you’ll be making at least $100 in profit! So make sure you’ve got your bot ready for some multiple pair cook!

With a blink of an eye, it’s already Q4 of 2020, and that calls for the best sneaker releases recap! So much already went down that we had to remind you of this year’s best sneaker releases. Although some of them remind us of the Ls, others were a big W. Especially for NSB users! Let’s see what the best sneakers of 2020 were, and see which one of these you own.

Disclaimer: We listed the best kicks of 2020 according to their release dates.

best sneaker releases 2020

2020’s Best Sneaker Releases

Here you’re going to find the most hyped sneakers of 2020 to date. You probably already know that, but some number$ won’t hurt!

Nike Dunk Plum

A pair that took us back to 2001! The Nike Dunk Plum was part of the Ugly Duckling pack, but this time it came back alone. However, that didn’t stop it from being one of the best sneakers of 2020! Naturally, when the kicks dropped on February 7, 2020, they were pretty exclusive. But with the help of NSB, our users got their heart’s plummish desire to own this pair. If you didn’t though, you can get it off the secondary market for about $600!

Nike Dunk SB Strangelove “Valentine’s Day”

Valentine’s Day in 2020 was like no other! Nike decided to do a romantic gesture and dropped the pink and red collab with Strangelove Skateboards. Although the brand canceled the online drop and the stock was low, NSB managed to snag pairs for its users! The kicks then dropped at select retailed and Nike SNKRS on February 8, 2020, in a regular and special box. The regulars resell for about $1,500, while the special box goes for $2,200.

Best sneakers 2020 - nike sb dunk strangelove

Off White x Jordan 5

A pair of kicks that generated so much controversy. People were split between feeling the hype and hating on it. But love it or hate it, the kicks sold out very fast. They were only available on the Nike and Off-White websites. The Off White Jordan 5 might not be the best sneakers in 2020 revenue-wise, but the hype was real! They dropped on February 15, 2020, and currently resell for up to $1,500! The new sail colorway of this pair will probably be more popular, and you can find out why here!

Best sneaker releases 2020 - OFF White air jordan 5

Travis Scott Nike SB Dunk

A Dunk by the Astrowold artist, what more can we ask for? Travis teased this collaboration in so many ways. First, we saw a glimpse of it in his music video. Second, we saw them on lowkey marketing posts on his personal Instagram account! But his collabs honestly don’t need any marketing because the hype is built in! Crowds immediately went wild over this pair. And as usual, they were pretty limited and extremely hard to cop!

Best sneakers 2020 - Travis Scott nike sb dunk

The kicks dropped on February 22 and 29 2020, in a special and regular box respectively. And they’re easily some of the best sneaker releases this year. Both drops were hard because the regular box drop was exclusive to select Nike SB retailers. Meanwhile, the special box was an exclusive raffle on Travis Scott’s website! They currently resell for an average of about $2,500 (special) and $2,000 (regular).

Air Dior High & Low

Easily the pair of the year, and on the top 10 list of the most expensive kicks of the decade. A high-end pair of sneakers sure got us all going WOW. The release was a pretty difficult procedure that included a raffle and in-store pickup and safety measures. And we shouldn’t forget a pocket full of money because they retailed for $2,000! The kicks officially dropped on April 6, 2020, and currently resell for starting prices of $7,740 (high) and $5,919 (low).

Travis Scott Air Max 270 “Cactus Trails”

Another Cactus Jack product. This time, the marketing campaign was extremely cool and we had to cop because they looked so good! NSB made sure we could flex this release, and flip it. Travis’ Air Max 270 dropped on April 10, 2020, and it currently resells for around $500! And if you flipped multiple pairs, it’s cash cash baby!

Air Jordan 1 Royal Toe

This is one of the best sneakers releases in 2020 that holds so much nostalgia and street culture that we couldn’t not cop! And NSB totally smashed this release back on May 9, 2020. You can read about this pair here to know why we love it. Today, you can buy the royal toes for $450!

best sneaker releases 2020 - Air Jordan 1 Royal Toe

Jordan 13 Flint

Now, this is one of 2020’s best sneakers, not for resale, and not for nostalgia (although it does give us the vibe). It’s actually what went down with this release that put it in this place of honor. The sneaker industry was initially going to sleep on this release. However, the winds changed direction and the sneakers sold out in a matter of minutes! That was probably due to the Jordan popularity surge thanks to The Last Dance. Although the brand doesn’t need a boost, it was a welcome move nonetheless!

best sneakers 2020 - jordan 13 flint

Jordan 13 Flint officially released on May 30, 2020. The good news though? NSB copped thousands of pairs for its users! We’re talking about OVER 4500 PAIRS! Today, you can find the kicks on resale platforms for an average of $400!

We’re Not Done with the Best Sneakers Yet!

2020 still has 3 months to go, and that’s plenty of time for you to get NSB and profit. Our users have made in the last few months only, several million dollars of profit! So why wait? Join the NSB fam today, the October releases won’t wait forever!
